What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a real job with built-in training and a salary from day one. It’s a practical way to earn a nationally recogonised qualification, while gaining hands-on experience in a real work environment.
Instead of choosing between college and work, apprentices do both. They spend most of their week learning on the job and the rest studying with an approved provider. At the end they graduate job-ready, experienced and often debt free.
Apprenticeships are available across 70+ industries, from construction and IT, to healthcare, engineering and recruitment.
Why an Apprenticeship is for anyone
There’s often confusion about who apprenticeships are really for, but the truth is, apprenticeships are open to people from all walks of life.
With over 77 programmes to choose from across industries like construction, tech, finance, engineering, and hospitality, there are options to suit every stage of life and career.
Whether you’re:
- Finishing secondary school
- Changing direction in your career
- Looking to gain hands-on skills alongside your studies
- A recent graduate wanting practical experience
- Or someone ready to upskill in a new area
There’s an apprenticeship for you.
No matter your background, apprenticeships offer a real opportunity to learn, earn, and grow into a career you’re proud of, and we’re here to help you find the one that fits.
Apprenticeships and
Qualifications
Apprenticeships lead to nationally recognised qualifications, the same framework used by colleges and universities in Ireland.
You can earn qualifications from:
- Level 5 (Leaving Cert)
- Level 6 (Advanced Certificate)
- Level 7 (Ordinary Degree)
- Level 8 (Honours Degree, available in some advanced programmes)
Apprenticeships are backed by QQI, SOLAS, and the Irish Government, so your qualification is trusted and transferable across Ireland and beyond.
