The Role:
As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing mechanical systems on large-scale projects, ensuring the successful design, installation, and commissioning of HVAC and related mechanical systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, contractors, and clients, to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of all mechanical aspects of the project, in accordance with safety standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical system installations and projects, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with design specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Oversee mechanical teams, including subcontractors and engineers, to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring adherence to project timelines and cost control.
  • Review technical drawings, schematics, and equipment schedules to ensure mechanical systems are correctly integrated into the overall project design.
  • Monitor project progress, identify any issues, and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays or risks.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and quality control checks to ensure work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Collaborate with contracts managers, engineers, and senior management to communicate progress, resolve issues, and prepare detailed progress reports.
  • Ensure that all mechanical systems comply with local regulations, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals, ensuring they are complete and accurate upon project completion.
  • Participate in site surveys and provide technical support for project teams as needed.

Skills & Experience:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with significant experience in managing mechanical projects, particularly in the HVAC or building services sector.
  • Strong experience in managing the installation of mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects, including overseeing teams, budgets, and timelines.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, design principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Prior international project experience, particularly in data centres, commercial buildings, or similar large-scale installations, is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent IT skills essential – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook Etc.
  • BIM Navisworks experience.
  • Understanding of all internal processes and procedures (RASCI)
