Position Overview:

Our Client is looking for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor with a forward-thinking approach to join their team in Dublin. The role requires previous experience in quantity surveying, cost analysis, or project controls within a mechanical subcontracting environment. Key Responsibilities:

Quantity Estimation:

  • Carry out detailed measurements and quantity estimations from technical drawings, isometrics, and specifications.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all work, making sure all elements are captured in the final cost assessment.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports, valuations, and payment claims.

Cost Control:

  • Develop and monitor project financials, ensuring precise tracking and reporting of all expenses.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures, ensuring high standards are met while controlling expenditure.
  • Evaluate cost data to improve future projects and increase cost-effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with systems like Coins, SAP, or Oracle is an advantage.

Payment Processing:

  • Prepare and submit payment requests, ensuring cash flow remains uninterrupted.
  • Engage in negotiations with clients and subcontractors to resolve any issues related to payments.

Subcontractor Management:

  • Oversee subcontractor agreements, ensuring contract terms are followed and met.
  • Manage the procurement process, ensuring subcontractor services are acquired within budget and on time.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, reviewing work progress, verifying completion, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Managing Variations:

  • Price and manage any adjustments to the project scope, ensuring all modifications are documented and approved.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to evaluate the financial and schedule impacts of any changes.
  • Ensure all project changes are properly valued and communicated to all relevant parties.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with various teams, including project engineers, managers, and clients, to ensure clear communication on cost-related issues.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide guidance on financial and contractual matters.
  • Assist in refining and improving processes within the Quantity Surveying team.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Produce regular reports on project financial status, cost forecasts, and budget performance.
  • Keep up-to-date records of all quantity surveying activities, ensuring everything is accurately documented.
  • Assist with the final account preparation, ensuring all project costs are captured and reported.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Project Controls, or Project Management within a mechanical subcontracting setting.
  • Strong expertise in cost control, contract management, and handling project variations.
  • Ability to interpret and work with isometrics, technical specifications, and P&IDs.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and capable of advanced data handling.
